Wow! Can you believe it? There we were reading Peter Rabbit to the classes at story and snack time when the playtime bell rings and off we go to play but when we return there’s mud all over the playground and a pair of wellies and a spade left on the floor! Mud continued to run into the class and up the corridor! Well we tidied it up and Mrs Mcintyre came in with a hand scribbled note from a very angry Scotsman with no shoes on! He left the message and a map and grumbled something about carrots and left the school! Well we sat down and read the letter! It was from Mr McGregor! We couldn’t believe it as we had just read the story! Peter Rabbit has pinched his prize winning carrots and he was angry and believe he had dropped them around the school before running off! He left a map where he thought the carrot had been dropped and we used our map reading skills to find them. See photos! We then set off and found the carrots and decided to write a note back to Mr McGregor.  We left it at the office so Mrs .Mcintyre could ring him and he could pick them up! I have a feeling we maybe hearing from him soon...

.Well we returned today to find out that Mr McGregor had returned to school late last night and had left us his prize winning carrots! Not only his carrots but an onion, stock cube, some garlic and a couple of potatoes and a recipe for carrot soup! Apparently Mrs McGregor could t wait for the carrots and sent him back down the allotment to get some more her soup and then said that as a thank for our hard work we could keep the carrots and maybe make our own carrot soup! So that’s what we did! We used our reading skills and knowledge of following instructions from last term and followed the recipe. We had a food and safety talk about preparing vegetables and chopped all the ingredients ourselves! We then boiled them up and blended the soup so there was no lumps. We then tasted our yummy carrot soup! A yummy healthy lunch option! Super team work Year One!
